Your Part

“But the man of God was angry with him. “You should have struck the ground five or six times!” he exclaimed. “Then you would have beaten Syria until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times.” Then Elisha died and was buried” 2 Kings 13:19-20

The second thing that bothered me when I read the story in 2Kings 13:14-20 is our scripture reference for today. Scripture says, “Then Elisha died and was buried” 2 Kings 13:20. Meaning the king did not have an opportunity to appeal. The king did not get the chance to say I did not understand what you were saying, give me a second chance. After all Prophet Elisha you are still here and the anointing is still here so we can rewind the process and recreate the moment. But the alarming reality is that king Jehoash did not get a second chance! I do not want to believe that it was pride that made the king not ask for a replay of the whole prophetic action.

However, there is something called ‘the window of response’ in the spirit realm. For instance, when Scriptures say seek the Lord while He might be found, it is referring to the window of response. Sometimes we assume that we can do what we want when we want and then come back and serve God. You do not have your life in your hands. It is in God’s hands. If God is calling you, respond because there is a window of response. What Scripture is basically telling us is, even though you are going to get help from above, you still have a part to play. Some windows or doors when they are shut, they are shut! I pray that you will enter the door God is opening for you before it shuts in Jesus Name.

In 2Kings 13:17, God’s prophetic word through the mouth of Elisha was “…for you will completely conquer the Syrians at Aphek” [emphasis added]. Fast forward to 2Kings 13:19you would have beaten Syria until it was entirely destroyed. Now you will be victorious only three times” [emphasis added]. Take note that what you do determines how much of God’s Word comes to pass in your life. In Hebrews, God’s Word says, the word did not profit them because they did not mix it with faith. Faith is action. They did not do what they needed to do. They did not move in the direction God expects, so the Word did not profit them. I pray that the Word of God for you will profit you in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will not be ignorant of my part in the fulfillment of Your Word in my life. I ask that You help me grow in faith, in Jesus Name.
