Make It Happen!

“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer. “Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” 1Sam.14:6

I love people that make things happen. I see a lot of philosophers, even in church, they are always there analyzing things. I listen to them and I move on. I am friendlier with action people. Napoleon, the great general said, “Opportunities? I make opportunities!” While others are waiting for opportunities, he does not. Instead, he makes opportunities. By all indication, it does not appear that Napoleon knew God.

In the popular battle for North Africa, the Italians had suffered huge defeat from the British so they sent word to the Germans for help. The British intelligence of course was up to date; they knew the Germans were coming. The British calculated their move based on the time that the German ship will arrive, then berth, then offload their tanks and be able to send them in disarray. But the famous German General Rommel, as soon as the ship berthed, began dispatching the tanks into battle in waves. The British did not know what hit them. Italy won the war not because the British had smaller military capacity or limited and inaccurate intelligence but because the Germans were on the offensive. Every force that is on the offensive mostly prevails over the defensive force. The defensive force is mostly at the mercy of the offensive force.

I recently started engaging a sport I used to think was a waste of time. However, when I started I quickly realized it is difficult because of how technical it is. It engages every part of your being like warfare. In my opinion, the greatest players are the attacking players or players that are able to transition from defense to attack. Once during a match, I was in the lead but the person I was playing, deployed everything illegal legally to get the advantage and he did. “No great battles are ever won on the defensive”, says Napoleon. You cannot win on the defensive. You need to be on the offensive. In prayer, you need to be on the offensive. In giving, you need to be on the offensive. In forgiving, you need to be on the offensive. Do not wait till people ask you for forgiveness; forgive them in advance – be offensive. And in loving, you need to be on the offensive.

Prayer: Father, teach me to be on the offensive in my walk with You, in witnessing, in my family, my finances, prayer, forgiveness, giving, and loving, in Jesus Name.
