Attack!

“Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up)” Luke 8:1 [AMP].

A lot of us enjoy watching or even playing a good game of soccer. As long as I can remember, I have always loved to attack and lead counter attacks. I just do not get midfielders that are always passing sideways and backwards; it irritates me. You do not win matches in your lower third; you win matches by attacking. There was this football club that would take the ball straight to their opponent’s box eighteen and do their passes there. Why? It is because you win matches by attacking. And another club that was not very good defensively but would largely score more than their competition. You do not win matches defending. You win matches by attacking – just attack!

As at 2015, the best goalkeeper in the world was Manuel Neuer and he was an attacking goalkeeper. Statistics show that he spends more time outside his box eighteen than inside it. During a match when he gets the ball, he is constantly creating forward motion. Why? It is because there is no nation that wins defensively, there is no army that wins defensively, there is no life that goes forward defensively, there is no career that makes progress defensively, and there is no business that makes progress defensively. You have to attack!

In history, a master of attack is Genghis Khan of the Mongol empire. Genghis Khan’s attacking strategy is straight forward. He besieges a city, divides his large army into three groups and they all have shifts of eight hours each. Then he attacks the city round the clock, wave after wave, there is no rest – no break. And in history there has never been a city that has been able to withstand his attack.

The Mongol Empire is the largest contiguous Empire in the history of man. The British Empire is only bigger in landmass. The reason for the expansion of the Mongol Empire was not defense. The reason for expansion is one word and that word is – Attack! It got to a point that cities would just surrender to him willingly in exchange for fair treatment. And he would just collect tributes from them. In the spirit realm, prayer puts you on the offensive. This is why I always advise people to take seasons of prayer and fasting very seriously. Prayer puts you on the offensive.

Prayer: Precious Holy Spirit, teach me to pray without ceasing, in Jesus Name.
