Security

“For the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap” Prov.3:26

The need for security is one of the deepest needs we have. And once it is threatened, our security need preoccupies us completely almost grinding to a halt other areas of our lives. Imagine how confident the step of someone that has been promoted at work three times in past one year would be. Imagine how much spring he would have in his steps. Then he bounces to work one day and a little bird tells him that the company is downsizing and would be letting fifty percent of its current staff go. What do you think will happen to him and the spring in his step? He will immediately begin to worry because he cannot tell if he would be a part of that fifty percent. He will update his resume and consider possible organizations he can send it to. And all this is because his financial security is threatened. He is unable to do anything else until he gets that off his mind.

Imagine someone goes to the doctor for a routine check. So the doctor runs some tests and when he sees the results, he asks if the person walked in or was carried into the hospital. The physical security of that person is immediately threatened. Guess what? Even the strongest people usually begin to sweat because all of a sudden, their physical security is being threatened.

Imagine after a God Will Do It Again service, you get home, freshly anointed and fired up, only to meet three bats flying around in a house with all the windows and doors tightly shut. You probably would place a call to your Life Group leader immediately; locate the anointing oil you brought from the service and spring into action. Why? Because your spiritual security is being threatened. That is how we are wired as human beings; we need to secure our bases. God wants you to secure your bases. So to have proper security you must do four things. Please take note of these four things we will be discussing over the next few days.

#1. To have proper security, you must prevent surprises from your internal forces. Remember the story of the Oba of Lagos we shared some days ago? Classic example! You must prevent surprises from the people around you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please reveal the people around me to me and keep my heart stayed on You alone, in Jesus Name.
