Follow Through II
“Then he said, “Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground.” So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times. But the man of God was angry with him. “You should have struck the ground five or six times…” 2Kings 13:18-19
Yesterday, we talked about the twin battle between the British forces and Turkey. We pointed out how in the first battle, the British backed down too quickly. Take note, they would have subdued Turkey if they had just followed through. In the second battle, the British lost again because they delayed at a point when they should have proceeded to launch their attack. So again I pray that you will not stop at eleven o’clock when victory is just at twelve o’clock. I pray that every opening God sets before you, you will exploit fully. I pray that if you were to give up at twelve o’clock, your enemies will surrender at eleven o’clock. I also pray that if you were unprepared for battle, God will make the enemy just perambulate until you are ready to wipe them out, in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
It is so instructive that we learn from these historical examples because many times God gives us an idea, a brilliant idea. Sometimes we write it down in our journal or even tell someone about it but we do not follow up or follow through. Then time passes and you look down the road and somebody else has followed through on the idea. Has that happened to you? You know what I used to say when such things happened to me? They stole my idea. Did they really? That idea implemented is a testament of your inability and my inability to follow through. If it is a business, as long as that business exists it speaks to you that on this day you did not follow through. What is that thing, that opening, that God has given you and what are you waiting for? Follow through!
The Swiss are known for their wristwatches. The Swiss Chronological Institute came up with the quartz technology in 1960. But they put it aside because they said wrist watches ought to have gears to show they are hand crafted. The Japanese visited them and obtained the rights for this quartz technology from them. You know what happened next; almost everybody in the world is wearing or has one quartz wristwatch. The lesson for us here is the Swiss had it, God gave it to them but they did not follow through. They did not exploit the situation. I pray that your life will not be filled with regrets.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please empower me to follow up and follow through on every opening You set before me so that I will have no regrets, in Jesus Name
