Focus On God!

“God, because of Your great love, answer me.  You are truly able to save.  Pull me from the mud, and do not let me sink…  Do not let the flood drown me…”  Psalm 69:13-15 [NCV, emphasis added]

Problems attempt to press us into defeat but when your situation looks DEFEATING, think about The Greatness of God. When your situation looks defeating, do not throw your hands in the air and give up. Instead, engage your mind and adjust your focus to God’s greatness. We need to stop focusing on the things that drain life out of us, and start focusing on our God that infuses us with life.

David was so powerful because he understood this and he demonstrated it consistently. “God, because of Your great love, answer me. You are truly able to save. Pull me from the mud, and do not let me sink… Do not let the flood drown me…” Take note of how David prays and his focus. His focus is not on the mud, or on how fast he is sinking, or on the flood. His focus is on God’s greatness and God’s ability [power].

When your situation looks defeating, you think about the greatness of God because your life will follow the course of your thoughts. “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind; is there anything too hard for Me?” Jer. 32:27 [NIV]. Now, this is something to think about when your situation looks defeating. I cannot count how many times this passage of scripture has brought relief to my soul. We face seemingly impossible situations sometimes, personally and even corporately as a church.

Take God’s Favourite House’s possessing the land for instance; I cannot get tired of that testimony. It is totally mind-blowing and when I get to heaven I will ask God how He did it. How we were able to pay the bills when we were in a rented facility week after week, is a miracle. Sometimes, we will mop up everything in our account and pay, not know how the next service is going to happen. Amidst all that, I just remember, You are the God of all flesh, is there anything too hard for you? And rather than being defeated, rather than being pressed into defeat, I get lifted into God’s Presence and I am carefree. And guess what? One way or the other our bills are sorted out. He is the God of all flesh and nothing – absolutely nothing is too hard for Him to do. Think on these things.

Prayer [song]: You are God alone, from before time began. You are on Your throne, You are God alone. And right now, in good times and bad, You are on Your throne, You are God alone. You’re Unchangeable… Unstoppable… Unshakable, that’s who You are. Amen!
