Be Practical

“Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through Your Word” Ps.119:37

The first key to remaining pure in a sex-saturated world is a commitment to God’s standard. The second key is managing your mind.

#3. Minimize the opportunity for temptation. The truth is there is no one that is immune to sexual sin; given the right circumstances anyone can fall, anyone! Yes, including Pastors. I will not fall, in Jesus Name but I am not a fool to think that I cannot fall. If you think you cannot fall then you are a big fool. Do not take this the wrong way. The Bible says, “Be careful. If you’re thinking, oh, I’d never behave like that let this be a warning to you. For you too may fall into sin.”  19 [LB]. Another Bible translation reads, “don’t be so foolish to think you are beyond it you can easily fall flat on your face easily”. Why am I so confident that I will not fall? I am going to share my practical steps on how not to fall and you will not if you will do likewise. I pray that you will, in Jesus Name.

The first thing is to recognize situations that stimulate and tempt you. Once you recognize those situations, out line what the early signs are and kill it brutally. Note that stimulus is different for different people. There is no point telling you mine because it may be totally useless to you. For some people it is the scent of boiled beans, while for another it is raw food that stimulates them. The point is this; you need to know what it is for you and when you recognize it, stem it!

I do not always renew my paid television subscription. But sometimes I need to watch the news or the league soccer games or tennis matches, so I renew my subscription. While flipping channels, something interesting catches my eye so I stop. But almost immediately, the harmless content switches to vile and vulgar. Spiritually, I see visions so physically my vision is also very stimulated. My heart says change the channel but my hands delay [do not judge me]. What I have done is to put the picture of my daughter on the television. And when such content comes up I ask my self will I be proud if she sees me watching this nonsense? Guess what? The struggle vanishes and I flip the channel. It is a simple fix for me. You need to find what works for you and implement it.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please turn my eyes from worthless things and lead me along the paths of righteousness for Your Name sake, in Jesus Name.
