Push For Zero!

“Turn your back on lustful thoughts and give your positive attention to goodness, integrity, love, and peace.”  2 Tim. 2:22 [Ph, emphasis added]

You and I need to learn how to willingly run away from potentially damaging things. If only you realize that God is actually watching you, you will run away from everything that is vile and vulgar. You will not even struggle. You just would not be caught with such things. Another thing we all need to watch out for when it comes to minimizing the opportunity for temptation, is traveling. Traveling kind of gives people a false sense of liberty because your mind tells you nobody knows you. You most likely will stay in a hotel and those hotel rooms are filled with interesting channels.

I once went to Kenya with a couple of friends and at dinner, some very well dressed ladies showed up at our table proposing to join us for dinner. I was totally indifferent because the only thing on my mind at the time was my desire to rest. The ladies joined the table but I left and went to sleep. My friend would later tell me that I was totally unaware of what was going on. The ladies were high class prostitutes because of the kind of hotel we were in. Imagine if someone saw us with them.

I was in Netherlands and at about ten o’clock, I went for a walk. Then I saw what I thought was a mannequin of a stack naked woman in a shop window with different colors of lights. My thoughts were, why this? And out of curiosity I moved to take a closer look and then I realized they were human beings. Guess what? I ran away. And something said, nobody would know. After all when you are in Rome, you behave like Romans. I was not even a pastor at the time. So my practical step to minimizing opportunity for temptation is, when I travel, I opt to stay with family. I use my funds for a hotel to help in the house. I only stay in hotels when it is unavoidable.

I am sure you know that I am not saying hotels are bad. And I have not said I will go to hell if I stay in a hotel. What I am doing is minimizing the opportunity for temptation. You have no business as a lady going for a sleepover in the house of a male friend. Am I saying he does not respect you? What I am saying is, do not take fire into your bosom!

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me daily set things in place to minimize the opportunity for temptation, in Jesus Name.
