Hungry?

Psalm 32:8 “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you” [with emphasis].

One question that is constantly on the mind of many believers is how to hear God consistently. Firstly, I implore you to settle this truth in your heart; you have all it takes to hear from God – You are fully equipped. Imagine you just got an expensive antique radio. You bring it out of the box and connect it to the power source. When the radio comes on, would your favourite radio station come on straightway? It usually wouldn’t. So for you to connect to your favourite station, you would have to tune in, right? While tuning your radio, you will get a static noise and you will come across other radio stations, but they are not where you are going. You have to keep on tuning until you get to your favourite station.

Sometimes, you get the right station and it is clear, but other times, even though you are tuned to the right station, it still isn’t clear and you still hear some of the static noise, right? Even if you have the best radio available, if you are not tuned to the right frequency, you will not hear the broadcast accurately. Your radio has to be tuned to the right frequency. Over the next few days we are going to be learning how to tune to the right frequency – God’s frequency. We are also going to learn now to remain tuned into God’s frequency.

However, even before we get into all that, one major thing that will drive you to tune into God’s frequency is Hunger. You must be hungry for His voice. You have to be desperate to hear God’s voice. If I were to reel out the ten-step process to tuning, it really won’t make any difference if you do not want to tune [if you are not hungry for His voice].

Many years ago, a particular Scripture birthed in me the hunger for God’s Word and for His Voice. I want to share that scripture with you today. It’s a Scripture one can easily gloss over, but the Holy Spirit used it to fire me up. I pray that it fires you up too. Lu.3: 1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2 while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness” [with emphasis].

Prayer: Father, I ask in the Name of Jesus that You birth an insatiable hunger in me for Your Presence daily, in Jesus Name.
