Fresh Fire

Lu.3: 2 while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness [with emphasis]

Yesterday, I began by telling you how the Holy Spirit used Luke 3:1-2 to ignite a hunger in me for the voice and the Word of the Lord. And today, I am going to show you details of this Scripture that can easily be missed but are essential to life change. Lu.3:1Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2 while Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness [with emphasis].

When you begin to read this kind of Scripture you want to skip it, right? I know that feeling; a desire to skip to the “important part”. But take note of the positions that have been deliberately highlighted. Pilate was governor, Herod, Philip, Lysanias were tetrarchs, and Annas and Caiaphas were high priests yet the Word of God was with John the Baptist. The president did not have the Word. The governors did not have the Word. Even the high priests in the temple did not have the Word. And John was in the wilderness but the Word of God located him.

That day, I made up my mind not to be interested in titles. The only thing I am interested in is the voice of God. Positions and titles are irrelevant. If you see people [even Christians] jostling for positions and titles, they do not have the Word of God. They do not even know where they are because if you have the Word of God, the Word will locate you. It birthed a desire in me to hear the voice of God. My position is irrelevant. What matters most is hearing the voice of God. What is God saying?

God skipped the president, skipped the governors, skipped the local government chairmen, even skipped the church leaders, and found John. Ah! I have not yet recovered from encountering this Scripture. God is broadcasting, are you tuned in? In that time, it was only John that was tuned in.

Prayer: Father, I ask in the Name of Jesus that positions will be irrelevant to me and Your voice and Your Word will be my priority always, in Jesus Name
