Will You?

Hab.2:³ But these things I plan won’t happen right away.  Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled.  If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.  It will not be delayed.” [emphasis added]

Now that we have gotten rid of the challenges to fine tuning, we will turn our focus to fine-tuning and learn how to fine-tune from two prophets in the Bible – Habakkuk in the Old Testament and John the Baptist in the New Testament. Please read Luke 3:1-2 and Habakkuk 2:1-3. With God’s plans and promises, sometimes it appears as if God is slow. But God assures us that even if it appears to be slow, the only thing we are to do is to wait for it.

“Slow… will not be delayed”- is that a contradiction? Yes, God uses contradictions but still He assures you and I that steadily and surely, it will come to pass.

I do not know what you are trusting God for this season but I am here to say to you, it is going to come to pass. I have been following Jesus for over twenty years now and I can confidently tell you that God is reliable; totally reliable. He may appear slow but follow Jesus. By the time He turns around the captivity, you would be like them that dream. And the waiting period would seem totally insignificant. Wait on the Lord. We are going to be learning six things from these two prophets about fine-tuning to the Holy Spirit.

Lesson #1: I must want to hear God. I must desire to hear God’s voice and to do His will. Habakkuk said, “I will climb up…”. John the Baptist left the normal human settlement and went into the wilderness. Such moves are born out of a desire. You will not hear God unless you really want to hear God. David says in Psalm 85:8 [GW], ““I want to hear what God the Lord says…”  [emphasis added].

But it actually goes beyond hearing God to wanting to obey God. Psa.40:⁸ [NCV] “My God, I want to do what You want.” In the areas of life where you appear to be in a fix or you are experiencing a dilemma, whose will do you really want, your will or God’s will? God always speaks to people that decide in advance to obey Him. Psa.119:²⁰ “What I want most of all and at all times is to honor Your laws.” [CEV, emphasis added]. This means that for those who hear God speak, the Words He says are not an option. Do them!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that You are reliable. I want to hear Your voice, Lord and I ask for the grace to do Your Words as You speak, in Jesus Name. Amen!
