Proof of Love

Ps.50:5 “Bring my faithful people to me— those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.”

God deals with serious Christians by covenant. The milestones of greater heights are usually sealed with covenant. When God takes me to a higher level, there is usually a fresh discussion of what it entails. As long as you do your part, you can go to bed. It does not matter the enchantment against you. It does not matter what people are saying against you. As long as you do your part, you can go to bed because God will do his part.

Ps.50:5Bring my faithful people to me— those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.” You cut a covenant with God by sacrifice and by sacrificial giving. Sadly, the consumerism mentality has a lot of us thinking only of what we can get. God said to Abraham, “give me your son, your only son Isaac”. My thoughts were, ‘this man waited for this child, Lord and You gave him the boy. The boy is now a teenager and You are saying this is the sacrifice You want? But Abraham said, “Yes Sir”. I pray that when God lays a demand on your Isaac, your only response will be, “Yes Sir”.

Abraham did not tell Sarah; he woke the boy up early for their trip. I know the Bible does not state this part but think about it. After Sarah has waited ninety years to get a miracle baby, then her husband would say, “God told me to sacrifice the boy”. That would immediately start a civil war. Sarah would probably prefer for Abraham to sacrifice himself. She might even offer to follow him to the mountain and sacrifice him to his God. There are certain instructions that when God gives you, you do not confer with flesh and blood.

When the time came to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham lifted up his hand to strike, but God stopped him. Then God said, “Now I know that you love me and fear me”. Is God not all-knowing? Does He not know that you love and fear Him? God will prove your love. You are depending on God’s Omniscience to prove your love but God is depending on your sacrifice to know your love.

Prayer: Father, I am just a steward; all that is in my possession was first given to me by You. May I never hold anything back from You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
