No Alternative

Luke 18:1 “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up”

I have a message for someone reading this today, the good news that God is driving away from your territory that which has been eating your harvest. I pray that you receive this good news and thank God for it.

When I got saved over two decades ago, I was convinced that there must be an alternative to prayer. And it was because of how difficult I felt prayer was. My thoughts were, “if it is this hard, there has to be an alternative”. So I began to research; a personal quest for an alternative to prayer. My conclusion was and is that there is no alternative to prayer! So I chose to face it and master it. Only for me to discover that prayer is actually very sweet. Prayer is actually the fragrance of the sweetness of life. The unexplainable beauty that fills your life when you have truly prayed, is so beautiful that it keeps you coming back to the place of prayer.

If only we would pray when issues arise, we would be shocked at what the outcome will be. A lady came to my office and she was in a lot of anguish. After listening to her lamentation about all that she was going through, I asked her if she had prayed about the problem. She answered, “No, that is why I am here. You are supposed to pray”. I said to her and I am saying to you, you have to pray! So I told her to go home, get into one of the rooms in her house, shut the door and then replay all that lamentation before God. Take your tears, your passionate petition, and your lamentation to God in your secret place, and by the time you are done, you would be amazed at the results.

If only we would pray, if only you would pray. The major problems in life, in business, in careers, and in marriage are largely because of prayerlessness. When you do not pray, the enemy comes and sows tares – weeds [Matt.13:25]. You cannot afford not to pray. I grew up around my grandmother. I must confess that how frequently she prayed, irritated me back then. But now, I am totally grateful for those days and her prayers. I thank God for the habit of prayer and the hymns she drilled into us. I am totally grateful for the foundation of prayer.

Thought: How often do your children experience you worship and pray to God?

Prayer [song]: It is You that is worthy, You that is worthy, You that is worthy of our praise (2x). Amen!
