Simply Doable!

Ps.4:3 “You can be sure that anyone who serves the Lord faithfully is special to him. The Lord listens when I pray to him” [ERV]

We must never overlook the first thing that Jesus points out to us which is that prayer is based on our relationship with God as our Father.  Make sure that this relationship is intact and then let your prayers flow from that birthplace. Matt.6:9 …Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (KJV)

So I am challenging you to engage the one-hour prayer pattern in your place of prayer today. And for those of us who can already do so for an hour, strengthen your prayer through this pattern:

  • Spend the first ten minutes thanking and praising God. I am certain everybody can do this. Just dance before God!
  • After that, pray for God’s work on earth, for His Kingdom to come. Pray for your loved ones that have not received Christ. Pray for those that claim that they are Christians and are living like vagabonds. Pray for your pastor, your church family and for the Word of God to prosper. Before you know it, another ten minutes has gone by.
  • Then comes the part we like best – pray for provision. I am certain that everybody reading this today can spend ten minutes asking for God’s blessings, increase and promotion. I am sure a lot of people will go well over ten minutes on this particular prayer point.
  • After that take time to introspect; ask God to forgive you. Think about those that have hurt you, bring them before God and forgive them. Ask God that, because you are forgiving them, let Him show you mercy. Before you know it, another ten minutes have past and you have hit the forty minute mark.
  • For the next ten minutes, pray for protection [spiritual warfare].
  • Finally, you thank God again for the last ten minutes.

You have successfully prayed for one hour – a sweet hour of prayer. It is sweet because of the power and the pattern of prayer. So take the challenge, engage both today.

Prayer [song]: Holy Holy Holy, Lord God Almighty, early in the morning, my song shall rise to Thee. Holy Holy Holy, Merciful and Mighty, God in three Persons, blessed Trinity. Amen!
