The Gift

Gen.1: ²⁸ “Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish on the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

The second thing we must know about sex is that sex is a gift from God. With God sex is beautiful, sex is good, and sex is sweet. What do you think would have happened if Adam had slept with Eve before they ate the fruit? God instructed them to be fruitful, get busy and multiply. But Adam did not obey that instruction. What if Adam had twelve children before he ate the fruit, God would have just killed Adam and Eve and today, we would have been be good. But instead of getting busy, Adam was just hanging around with Eve under the tree.

My advice to every man is get busy with your wife because if you leave your wife to just roam around, you are leaving room for satan to speak to her. My wife and I do group couples counseling sessions periodically and we like to sample opinions. For instance, “which of you would want more sex or you feel starved in their marriage?” It used to be about seventy percent men asking for more. But in the past five years which was the last time we took this poll, it was now sixty percent women saying they needed more sex. Scary! My question to the men was, “what are you doing?” Your assignment is clear, get busy!

John 10:¹⁰ “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life”. The Amplified Version reads, “…I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)”. God is big on our enjoyment. It is truly amazing how much God wants us to enjoy this life He has given us. God wants you to enjoy life and it is not little by little. We all need to get this truth so that we do not step out of God’s will for us. God is passionate about us thoroughly enjoying this life.

Jesus did not only come so that we can have eternal life. Thank God for eternal life – living with God forever in eternity is huge! But God did not only come so we can have eternal life, He came so that we can also have abundant life. Eternal life has to do with living forever with God; abundant life has to do with having all that God has planned for you here on earth.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I repent today for not living in the reality of this truth. I receive Your gift of life in abundance till it overflows, in Jesus Name. Amen!
