Enjoy It

John 10: 10 “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” [AMP].

When we pray for God’s blessings I see people struggle with such prayers. And the reason they struggle is because they do not understand that God really wants them to be blessed. I have come to announce to you today that God really wants you to enjoy your life. Let me explain with the example of eating since it is a related craving for physical pleasure. God did not have to give man taste buds if the sole purpose of food was for nourishment. In reality, you can be nourished without tasting the food. There are people that have lost their sense of taste but they are still healthy because they are eating well.

I am privileged to work with people that enjoy food. When one of my colleagues in particular engages food, it is focus time. Regardless of who is passing by or what is going on around, the focus on the food is a hundred percent; tasting every ingredient and just relishing the food. One day in particular, I passed by without being noticed, I even called other colleagues to witness ‘the art of eating with pleasure’ and the focus did not shift from the meal. Honestly, that is how God works. God wants us to enjoy His gifts to us.

God gave us taste buds so that we do not just eat food, but we enjoy the food. God did not have to give us the gift of the pleasure of sex. He could have made us asexual. There are organisms that have asexual reproduction. The female just lays the eggs and the male will go and fertilize the eggs independent of the female. God could have made us like that. When people are ready to have children, the woman would say, “honey, the eggs are in the fridge” and the man will go there and fertilize them. But God did not make us that way; instead He made sure that it would be an enjoyable process.

Why did God make sex so enjoyable? Why did God give us taste buds? Why did He make sure that our lives could be enjoyable? He made it so enjoyable because He loves us. Life is a gift from God. Enjoy it! We have only one life and I have made up my mind not to waste it. I am going to enjoy this one life that I have and I am going to fulfill my purpose.

Prayer [song]: Thank You Jesus for the grace that You have given me, I can never repay You but from my heart I’d like to say that I thank You.
