Antidote II

Ps. 27:10Even if my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”

Most times, people that struggle with the pain of rejection, particularly from people they are most vulnerable to, start to think there is something wrong with them. If you are in this category then this message is for you. I am here to tell you that there is nothing wrong with you but something is wrong with them. It is possible that you have spent years trying to get your father’s approval. I am here to tell you that you may never get his approval. But it does not mean that you are doomed because you do not have the blessing of a father.

I am going to say this once more and I need you to get it and settle it in your heart. Your parents, your spouse, your siblings or men in general may never give you their approval. But guess what? You do not need it! Yes the Bible talks about the blessing of a father or father figure but you do not need it. God’s Word backs up this truth. David said, “Even if my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”

The story of David was that his mother was a side-kick [I hope you understand what that means]. So when he was born, she dropped him off with the father and left him. His father was ashamed of him so they always sent him to work in the fields. In fact, when Samuel came to anoint the king in Israel and Jesse was asked to present his sons, he did not call David. But guess who became the king? David! If the father or mothers position would determine the child’s destiny, David would never have become the king of Israel.

I am here to say to you today that it does not matter who has rejected you, you will fulfill your destiny in God. I am not in any way saying that children should be rebellious. I am pointing out the fact that some parents are just incorrigible. In one of such cases, a man’s parents did not approve of him marrying a lady simply because she was from a “lower class”. The man waited for his parents to approve for years and they did not budge so they sought counsel. Two consenting adults can get married under any law including the law of the Lord. So we joined them and they are happily married.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, empower me to keep putting into practice all You have taught me in this season and let Your peace be with me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
