Point Of Contact II

Acts 19:11 “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

The floating axe head: Where Elisha and the sons of the prophets were staying was too small. So they sought his permission to build a bigger place and he gave them the go ahead. They however did not stop there; they requested that he would go with them. 2 Kings 6:5 “But as one of them was cutting a tree, his ax head fell into the river. “Oh, sir!” he cried. “It was a borrowed ax!” 6 “Where did it fall?” the man of God asked. When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the water at that spot. Then the ax head floated to the surface.

The axe head is pure metal and it is pretty heavy. What is natural to an axe head in water is to sink. The water was so deep that it was impossible to locate the axe head. What is natural to sticks in water, sink or float? Sticks typically float on water. But when Elisha put the stick in the place where the axe head had fallen, the stick went down and the axe head came up – a substitutionary miracle. There are certain exchanges that you need to make otherwise certain things will remain sunk until you take something that should float and give in exchange for it. And the things that sank will come up and the things that should float will go down and take its place – point of contact. Again I know there has been a lot of abuse on the supernatural working through point of contact.

Just in case you are wondering, there are also examples in the New Testament. The woman with the issue of blood; Lu.8:43 “A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. 44 Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped”. What she was seeking in essence was a point of contact to Jesus. Other people had been touching Jesus but with this woman there was a difference. This tells us that the value you place on the anointing determines what flows to you. The challenge is that people have become too familiar with God, even in their quiet time. The fact that Jesus was accessible does not mean He was common.

Prayer: Father, may I never become familiar with God and the things of God. Let Jesus be magnified before my eyes and in my life always, in Jesus Name. Amen!
