Variables

2 Kings 4: 31 Gehazi hurried on ahead and laid the staff on the child’s face, but nothing happened. There was no sign of life. He returned to meet Elisha and told him, “The child is still dead” [with emphasis].

When I first read this portion of Scripture, a couple of things stood out for me. When the child died, this woman did not waste time telling her problem to people who could not solve it. She declared that all was well until she met Elisha. The second thing that stood out for me was the fact that Elisha’s mantle did not work in the hands of Gehazi. This is the same mantle that was handed down from Elijah; the same mantle that now holds a double portion of the anointing but it did not bring the child back to life. So what was wrong?

Elisha had to go by himself and lay on the boy and life came into the boy. Why did the mantle of Elisha not work in the hands of Gehazi? Again, physics gives us the answer. And the answer in summary is that the priorities of Elisha were not the priorities of Gehazi. The things that matter to Elisha meant nothing to Gehazi. Elisha was interested in eternal things but Gehazi was hooked on earthly gains. He was covetous. He had issues with carrying the power of God. There were areas of his life that were not open to God. Gehazi was not hungry for the power of the Holy Ghost. Elisha would say do not collect gifts and Gehazi would say that is foolishness. He was hungry for money and in the end, he got leprosy.

Our stories will never be like that of Gehazi, in Jesus Name. But we must do our own groundwork. We must ensure that we increase our rate of energy transfer so that when we contact God’s power either by conduction, convention, radiation or charge and discharge, we can handle it and it flows through us. Physics tells us that four variables determine the rate of energy transfer and we see these four variables in scriptures as well.

The first variable is Conductivity. Can the material conduct heat [power]? Different materials have different levels of conductivity. One of the highest is silver at 427, copper is 398, concrete is 0.2, and sand is 0.06. The higher the conductivity level, the faster the rate of energy, and the more power that can go into the material. Most cables are made with copper because of the high-energy transfer rate.

Prayer: Father, I pray in the Name of Jesus that when it comes to Your power, my life will not be concrete or sand, in Jesus Name.
