Are You Struggling?
Mark 10: 17 As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” [with emphasis]
I have shared with you that one of my personal mantras is “unto thy self be true”. And for this reason, I consistently confront myself with things and it has helped me improve on so many levels especially in my walk with God.
If I see from reading the Bible that God expects me to kneel for instance, and I am struggling with it, then I am going to have a conversation with myself. I am His sheep and everything in me is created and programmed to follow His voice. The minute I begin to struggle with that, then confrontation has to happen.
I appreciate that some people cannot kneel because of a medical condition. The question is, is that your case? Why are you unable to kneel and worship during your family devotion, even when everything in you is telling you to do so? Why must you be macho before God? Are you struggling to kneel because of how expensive your clothes and shoes are? And for this reason many people question the importance of kneeling before God.
Do you struggle because of arrogance? Or do you struggle because you are busy judging everyone else that is kneeling down? You have invited your friends to church but instead of helping them have a God experience, you are busy telling them of the woman that always kneels or cries in God’s Presence. How is that your business? Are you the accuser of the brethren? Is that why you don’t kneel? Why don’t I kneel before God? You need to ask yourself this question.
One of the most beautiful things that has happened to me in my life ever is in the place of worship – as I go on my knees, my daughter also goes on her knees. Nobody told her to do it. She sees me doing it by my bedside so she comes to kneel down beside me even though she may not totally appreciate or understand what I am doing. Why don’t you kneel before God? What is so great about you? Don’t get me wrong, I know you are great but He is the greatest. And the lesser must bow to the greater.
Prayer [song]: Glorious God. Beautiful King. Excellent God, I bow before Your throne. Bow before Your Throne, worship at Your feet, bow before Your Throne, You’re the Glorious God. Amen!
