Special Ability IV

Acts 2:37 “Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

To have God’s blessing that keeps intensifying we must continue to Be Devoted To God’s Word. We must hear it, read it, study it, memorize it, and meditate on it. Acts 2:42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…” [with emphasis]. The picture that comes to mind when I read this scripture is that they locked the door and threw away the key. The church that God will bless is the church that is built on the Word of God. The family that God will bless is a family that is built on the Word of God. The life that God will bless is a life that is built on the Word of God.

Earlier on in our marriage, when my wife and I had a quarrel particularly when she was wrong, she will just wait till it is evening and say, “I know you are upset but the Bible says that do not let the sun go down on your anger”. And it used to infuriate me. But I had a choice – will I build my life on the Word of God or will I disregard the Word of God because of my preferences? You have the same choice. I choose to live by the Word of God and I pray you will too. So we make up and that is it. We keep very short accounts because we base our lives on the Word of God.

We just don’t hear it, we just don’t read it, we just don’t study it, we just don’t memorize it, we just don’t meditate on  it, but we do the Word of God. Peter shared the good news to the world and people gave their lives to Christ. As you are living your life daily built on the Word of God, people will be drawn to you. Peradventure one of those people asks you what is the good news, what is the gospel; what will you say?

Many Christians struggle with articulating the good news. But we are going to solve that problem for you today. From today you will be able to answer anyone that asks you this question or even infers it. The good news is; my past is forgiven, I have a purpose for living and I have a home in heaven. Jesus is Alive! The good news is past forgiven, purpose for living, home in heaven. Jesus lives.

Prayer [song] Thank You O my Father, for giving us Your Son and giving Your Spirit till Your work on earth is done. Amen!
