Invest

Eccl.11:1 (NCV) “Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return. Invest what you have in several different businesses… 4 Those who wait for perfect weather will never plant seeds; those who look at every cloud will never harvest crops.”

To Step Up financially means Earn Some, Spend Less, Save More, No Loss and the fifth thing is Invest More. It is common knowledge that inflation beats the interest on savings in most countries. This means if all you are doing is saving money then you are losing money. While you should save, you need to invest more. While saving keeps your money, investing multiplies and grows it. You and I need to learn how, where and when to invest.

Why is it important to learn about investing before engaging it? It is because our stand is that we do not lose money, right? Investment involves risk. When you invest, you stand the chance of multiplying and growing your money or losing it. But inspite of the risk involved, God still wants us to invest and multiply what He has put in our hands. Please read Matthew 25:14-30. Jesus shows us God’s heart for investing with the parable of the talents.

In the parable of the talents, God had a problem with the servant that buried his money. The servant buried the money because he was afraid of losing it; afraid to take the risk of investing it. God states clearly that He expected the servant to trade, do business, or invest the money. However, just like any other financial decision, you should pray first and ask God how much He wants you to invest and where He wants you to invest it. It is key!

Another key to investing I learnt from studying other people invest is, move away from putting your money in a black box and expecting a jackpot. A black box is a get-rich quick scheme fraudsters often use to defraud people. Their proposal in a nutshell is, ant sized investment; elephant sized returns in record time. People do not even care what happens, all they can see is the returns they will get. So they push success stories and people who like to reap where they have not sown, such people they get into the snare. Move away from things that do not make sense. Instead, trust God to create through you things that are worthy of investment. You can be the one solving people’s problems and creating things.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please teach me how to invest and where to invest the resources that You have placed in my care, in Jesus Name. Amen!
