Sarah Believed?

Heb.11:11 “It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise” [with emphasis].

The Bible says that though Sarah was barren and she was too old, she believed that God was able to keep His promise. In other words, Sarah had the odds stacked up against her, she had enough evidence to doubt God but Sarah chose to believe God still. The reason why people are fretting, why people are afraid of the future is because they do not believe that God is able to keep His promises.

Personally, I am able to sleep at night and not even worry about anything. Much earlier in our marriage, my wife would wake me up in the middle of the night demanding an explanation for how I am able to sleep in spite of all the challenges before us. Would my staying awake and worrying, pay the rent? I am sleeping because I believe that God will keep His promise. And His promise is, “I have been young and now I am old yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed beg bread”; my case will not be different. God is not about to begin to fail in our time. Believe me!

They that know their God will be strong…” Believe me! Every one that trusts in an idol and is holding on to political power in Nigeria will step down. Believe me! God is not about to fail in our time. Sarah believed that God would keep His promise. Do you believe that God will keep His promise? The fact that the Bible says that Sarah believed, kind of boggled my mind because I had read the story of Sarah and I know that when the angel spoke, she laughed. But I also know that God is not a liar. So I went back to read her story again in Genesis 18 and I suggest that you do the same.

Gen.18:13 …“Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” Thank God for His mercy. Sarah did not believe when the Word was spoken to Abraham. But when God confronted her and spoke the Word to Sarah directly, she actually believed.

Prayer [Hymn]: [verse 3] His oath, His Covenant, and Blood Support me in the whelming flood; When every earthly prop gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand… Amen!
