To You

Gen.18: 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” 15 Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said, “No, you did laugh.”

God spoke directly to Sarah and she believed. Heb.11:11 “It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise [with emphasis]. It is because Sarah believed that the Word of God came to pass in her life. How does this apply to us? The Word of God to your husband is good but it is the Word of God to you that will change your life. It is not God’s Word to your house fellowship leader, to your pastor, or to your spouse that will change your life. It is God’s Word to you that will change your life.

What is God saying to you? It could be the same thing that God is saying to your Pastor. Remember, it is the same Word that God said to Abraham that God spoke to Sarah. However, until Sarah took ownership of the Word, it meant nothing to her. You have to hear God yourself. What is God’s Word saying to you concerning that situation?

Our house rent was due and there I was sleeping. My wife would not have it so she woke me up in the middle of the night demanding an explanation for my actions and a time when the rent would be paid. My confidence of course was in what God had said. Note that God did not tear open heaven to speak to me directly. However, I had seen His promise in the Bible. “I have been young and now I am old yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his seed beg for bread.” So I owned that scripture and believed that it will come to pass in my life. You have to get the Word of God for yourself.

Gen.18:12 So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” [with emphasis]. Like Sarah, we all make the mistake of focusing too much on the process – how will God do it? Faith is not being preoccupied with ‘HOW’; faith receives the ‘WHAT’ in spite of ‘HOW’ God does it. Faith receives ‘WHAT’ and does not worry about ‘HOW’.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path [Ps.119:105]. May Your Word never be scarce in my ears, in Jesus Name. Amen!
