Better Off
Eccl.4.9 “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”
Yesterday, we established that the concept of “Work-Family Balance” is a myth. Instead, seek “Work-Family Integration” because with integration, equilibrium is attainable and balance is possible. When you have work family integration, your spouse stops competing with your work life and starts collaborating with you and with your work.
Most times, we tend to live our lives in a disconnected way. When that happens, more often than not, your spouse becomes a stranger to your work and vice versa. Ninety-nine percent of women are competitive when it comes to their husbands which means, inevitably, your wife will see your job as a rival. So instead of her to be free to pray for your promotion, she will hold back because she is not sure how it will further impact your relationship. It is not that she does not want you to be promoted, it is just that she is not sure what will happen to her and her children when you get promoted.
The promotion has not happened yet and your only response to family is the busy signal – you do not have time for them. You may not have verbalized it but non-verbal communication they say, is louder. But when there is work family integration and she sees that the more you get promoted and the more money you make, the more you take care of her and the more you have time for her, what do you think will happen to her prayers? That is why the Bible says that two are better than one. What do you think will happen to a man whose wife is happily petitioning heaven day and night for his promotion?
You can never fail when you have your wife one hundred percent behind you in any endeavour; particularly when you are both in Christ. This is a huge success secret. Seek integration, because women are emotional beings. If she is not happy with you, even if she is praying for your promotion, the prayer is not going anywhere. But when she is integrated and you are both in sync, the prayer is flowing from a different place – and it is powerful. There is no such thing as work-family balance, it is a myth – Integration is the key.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask for the wisdom to achieve work-family integration in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!
