Who’s Throne?

Philip. 4:“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

There will always be things that will try to take control of your heart and try to be God in your life. The truth is that when anything or anyone gains controlling position of your life, the first commandment is broken. An obvious example would be a woman that is waiting to conceive before she praises God. You cannot put conditions to the Lordship of Jesus in your life. Jesus is either Lord of all or He is not Lord at all. However, there are some not so obvious examples of things that try to take control of our hearts, things like worry, anxiety, and despair. Some people have allowed worry to take control of their lives by enthroning it. As seemingly little as enthroning worry is, it is breaking the first commandment.

God says in Philip.4:6 (NIV) “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Are you going to obey God or not? What is it going to be? We were speaking to a lady a while back; she was worrying about so many things. We went though several scriptures and encouraged her. And because of what she saw in God’s Word, she was fired up. I could see from the light in her eyes that she had gotten it. The session was done, right? Not exactly. On her way out of my office, she stopped at the door and said, “If I am not worrying anymore, what should I be doing?’ In other words, worrying had become her pet and we had taken it away. I said, “Worship!”

Worshipping God is the solution to all worry and anxiety. You cannot worry and worship at the same time; they do not mix. So, choose this day what it will be –worship or worry? The beauty of the first commandment is that it delivers you and I from the dominating grip of forces that are stronger than we are. When trouble, depression, or affliction comes, you can say, “I will not bow to that, because I bow to The True and Living God alone.” – Totally liberating! A lot of families are plagued with demons, the only way out is in Jesus Christ. When you are submitted to God, you can shut the door to demonic access and affliction. The power to break the back of affliction comes from bowing to only one God – The Almighty God!

Prayer [song]: I will serve no foreign god. Nor any other treasure. For You are my heart’s desire, the Spirit without measure. Unto Your name, I will bring my sacrifice. Amen!
