Needing Light?

Prov. 1:² “Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. ³ Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair.”

The second bedrock of character is Discipline. Character is who you are when no one is watching. When you are alone in your room, in your office, in your car, in your solitary moment who you are is the weight of your character.If your life were to be projected on the big screen for everyone to see, what would they see? That is how serious the issue of character is. Your achievement is what you have done but your character is who you are. The bad things you have done are not who you are. Thank God for the great things you have done but that is not who you are.

Your reputation is what other people think about you. Reputation is like packaging; there is a lot of emphasis on packaging these days. Business-people rely heavily on packaging; even single women focus heavily on packaging. Your packaging will influence your reputation but your character is who you are. This is where the world misses it. The world misses the fact that your character will eventually become your reputation. Even though the world is missing it, but as God’s people we have to get it right. Your character eventually becomes your reputation. Many people focus on the reputation, on the packaging, on how things look, and on how things are presented. But if you do not pay attention to your character, eventually you would have a problem because the character becomes the reputation.

Character like smoke, has a way of spreading uncontrollably. And that reputation such people have tried so hard to protect, becomes destroyed. Luke 12:² “The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all.” In other words, all the packaging will be unpacked and everything will be out in the open. Is there anything in your life that if it is made public, will cause you a lot of shame? Stop it now because Jesus has promised that everything is going to be uncovered and His Word always comes to pass. It is just a function of time. So, please act on this instruction – stop it!

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I do not know all the sins lurking in my heart. Please cleanse me from every hidden fault and flood my life with Your light, in Jesus Name. Amen!
