Stand!

Isa. 40:8 (NIV) “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

We spend a lot of energy trying to avoid challenges but we actually should be thanking God for them. Challenges and adversity help us to develop endurance and endurance is a powerful weapon to have in your character arsenal. Foundation plays a huge role in character. Your foundation actually determines what you can carry. In a building for example, the height of the building is determined by the kind of foundation that went down. Someone intending to build a thirty storey building is not going to lay two inches of foundation. He is going to dig deeper. So, the role of the foundation is very key.

During the construction of the third mainland bridge in Lagos Nigeria for example, a lot of time was spent laying the foundation of that bridge. And it was because they knew that the bridge was going to carry a lot of heavy duty trucks; they foresaw the number of cars and buses that will be on the bridge. The depth of the foundation is based on the amount of load that the foundation will carry. Your foundation determines what you can carry! As the year draws to a close, it is important that we address the foundation so that we can shoulder all that God has for us in the New Year. So pay attention to these bedrocks of character.

Covenants are the cornerstones on which the foundations of life and all endeavours are built. Covenants cannot be sustained without character. And there can be no character without endurance. Abraham for example, had to endure adversity; he was travelling with his family looking for a city that God had told him about. Isaac sowed consistently during famine and that required endurance. He would dig a well and people will cover it, he would dig another and they would cover it, and this happened repeatedly. Covenants are sustained by character.

We have to learn how to endure. Esau could not endure hunger and because of that he sold his birth right. Esau lost the covenant because he could not endure. Endurance is very important in developing character. But Jacob endured and he was able to get the covenant. You will endure and the covenant is yours, in Jesus Name. Endurance is key.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, because You are the Living Word and my life flows from You, I will endure and God will be glorified as I breakthrough, in Jesus Name. Amen!
