What Matters
Heb. 11:10 For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.” (AMPC)
Acts 1:6 “So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” 7 He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere…”. Jesus had demonstrated His power, He had risen from the dead, yet this was the only thing on the mind of the disciples. Jesus shows us clearly that our business is to win souls, set the captives free, preaching the gospel when we receive the power of the Holy Spirit. Our business is not to set up a kingdom because our kingdom is not of this world. While every other person is trying to establish their caliphate, Christians should not because we look for a city whose maker and builder is God. This concept is so important; if you understand it, you will be at peace in this world. There is a lot of confusion in this world. But if you understand that to be a follower of Jesus is to seek for a kingdom that is not physically present, you will be at peace. When you know your King is in control and He is going to rule on this earth when the time comes, you will be at peace. Jesus was saying to the disciples on the way to Ammos in Lu.24:25 “Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. 26 Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” 27 Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” [with emphasis]. What Jesus was saying to them in essence is, that He is the embodiment of prophecy. Do you know that there were over three hundred prophesies about Jesus alone? All of those prophecies were fulfilled to the letter, and that cannot be a coincidence. As we look at the cross in this season, one of the prophesies that triggered Jesus’ coming to the earth was in Isa.6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me” (KJV). That was the prophetic picture of what took place when Jesus decided to come for you and me. Sometimes we look at the life of Jesus and conclude that Jesus would have come anyway. But do you know that Jesus did not have to come? Jesus could have chosen not to come.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are my guarantee of wisdom at the crossroads, and as I cling to the cross of Calvary let the life of God be released into me afresh, in Jesus Name. Amen!
