Lacking Nothing

Ps.23:1 (NKJV) “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 5You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over” [with emphasis]

When the Lord is your shepherd, He will not only meet all your needs, you will discover you have no want. The second reason you will have no want is because God actually gives us more than enough. David said, You anoint my head with oil and my cup runs over. Why would God not stop pouring the oil when the cup is full, is that not wastage? The cup runs over yet He keeps pouring, because God is more than enough. If God shows up at your dinner table with a jug of blessings, how large can your cup possibly be? No matter how big it is, compare it to a God sized jug. God is always more than enough. Shortage, lack, envy comes when we try to fill our cups ourselves.

If you will be God’s sheep, you will discover that He will take care of everything. So, the question to you today is, will you be His sheep? Will you admit that you have limited intelligence and submit yourself to God’s guidance? Will you allow yourself to be defended by God, realizing that you are defenseless against the powers of the enemy? Will you acknowledge that you are dirty and in desperate need of cleansing from God? However, we do not want to be associated with weakness. But we need to embrace our weakness or weaknesses before God’s strength can be released or made perfect. If you will be God’s sheep, He will take care of everything.

Eze.34:2 “…Shouldn’t shepherds feed their sheep... 4 You have not taken care of the weak. You have not tended the sick or bound up the injured. You have not gone looking for those who have wandered away and are lost…” [with emphasis]. If you have wandered away from the fold, or never even considered the possibility, or saw the need for a shepherd, the shepherd’s responsibility is to look for every sheep that wanders away or gets lost. God has come searching for you today. He is welcoming you into the fold with open arms. All you have to do is make the Lord your shepherd. Declare aloud before God today; Lord, you are my shepherd; I shall not want. Make me lie down in green pastures, lead me beside the still waters. Lord, restore my soul and lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your Name sake. Even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Lord, prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; anoint my head with oil such that my cup will run over. True freedom is in having God as your shepherd.

Prayer: Jesus, You are the shepherd of my soul; cleanse me, protect me, guide me. Do not let me wander away from Your presence Lord, keep me in Your presence forever, in Jesus Name. Amen!
