The Assurance

Isa.46:3 (NKJV) “…Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: 4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

I play a lot of sports and by God’s grace, I play them really well. However, one sport I have struggled to do is swimming and at some point, I wanted to give some focus to swimming. Typically, before I engage any sport, I start by reading and researching. One of the legendry swimming instructors said he does two things to people before he starts teaching them how to swim. Firstly, he splashes water on their face, to make them comfortable with water. He said most people are comfortable in water as long as their feet is touching the ground of the pool. He said the next step is to teach people how to float. Every time I have tried to float, guess what happens?

He said how he gets people to float easily, particularly children as they are easiest to teach anything really, is that he puts his hands under them. So, he assures them that he has them covered and them tells them what to do. He said that for the first two times he thinks the people deliberately sink just to be sure that his hands are there. He says, he is always there to catch them. He said, as long as they know in their minds that his hands are there, they begin to float. Even when he removes his hands, they are still floating. But when you think about it, this is very similar to how God deals with us. Underneath are His everlasting arms.

Deut. 33:26 (NKJV) “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to help you, and in His excellency on the clouds. 27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, ‘Destroy!’ 28 Then Israel shall dwell in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, in a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew.” When you want to float in life, remember that you cannot sink because God will catch you. God will carry you and uphold you. He is the Good Shepherd, He will not abandon you, He will restore your soul. I want you to make up your mind today to submit to His making, to follow His leading and you will see your soul restored.

Isa.46:3Listen to me… I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. 4 I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Jarrid Wilson puts it this way, “The closer we are to the shepherd, the safer we are from the wolves.” We all need a shepherd and there is none better than the Good Shepherd.

Prayer: Father, You are my shepherd. I thank You for the assurance that Your everlasting hands are underneath me always and will bear me up when I fall, in Jesus Name. Amen!
