Potential

Isa.9:6 (KJV, with emphasis) “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

The Bible says that the responsibility of governance, the responsibility of human leadership will rest upon the shoulders of this child. The peace you and I are looking for is in our alignment with the right government. Unfortunately, we think that it is about voting the right person into government. A lot of people believe that as soon they can get the right person into government, the petrol queues and poverty will come to an end. Do not get me wrong, it is good for petrol queues and poverty to come to an end. But the solution people seek has nothing to do with the election year or who gets voted into power. It is good to have good governance, do not get me wrong. But the truth is, the government will not be upon any politician. The peace of your heart can only come when you are aligned with the government of the Prince of peace, with Jesus.

Isa.9:6…The government will rest on his shoulders…” The government, upon the shoulders of a child? Is that not too much? God sees the potential of the child, not the frame of the child. God always speaks to potential. When God looks at a seed what He sees is a forest. God looks at you and He sees His seeds of greatness that reside in you. I know that many people cannot even wrap their minds round that. But God says, greatness resides in you. Judges 6:12 The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” This must have been ridiculous by human standards. At the point when the Angel of the Lord said this to Gideon, you could easily have described him as a coward. He was hiding, grinding wheat on a threshing floor. He was hiding his harvest from the devouring hoard of the Midianites.

It was in this state that God met with him but note that God’s Angel did not say, ‘You coward of Manasseh, I will raise you into a mighty man of valor’. Even though that would have been the realistic thing for the Angel to say, right? But God looked at Gideon in his cowardly state and said, ‘mighty hero’. The phrase mighty hero there means mighty man of war, mighty man of valor, the victor, the champion. God looked at someone that was hiding, and God called him a champion. For someone reading this today, the word that best describes where you are right now is ‘hiding’, but God is calling you a champion. Nothing about it adds up when you think about it logically, but champion is what God calls you. Judges 6:12The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!

Prayer: Jesus, You are my beginning and You are my destination. I am who You say I am, may Your Words of life shape my reality, in Jesus Name. Amen!
