Come Thirsty?

John 20:10-11 “Then they went home. Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in.”

John outran Peter but he did not overstep authority. Peter arrived on the scene and they both went into the tomb. What they saw confirmed what they had been told and they went home satisfied. But not Mary. Think about this for a minute; these were men, ladies came to call you that there is trouble. You came, saw that the trouble was real, and you left the ladies there. What does that tell us? It is either they said to Mary and the others, ‘Let’s go’, and the women refused. Most likely. Mary was obsessed with Jesus even in His death. “Obsessed is the word that the lazy use to describe the dedicated”- Anonymous. If there was someone else there that did not want to stay, the person will look at Mary and say she is obsessed. What are you still doing there? You are obsessed. You are a fanatic; why are you just calling Jesus all the time?

John 20:11 Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in.” Why was Mary crying? She called for help, the men came but instead of joining the women to look for Jesus, they confirmed what they had been told and they left. She was crying because she was disappointed and was looking for Jesus. John 20:12 “She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying.” Peter and John went in, they saw the linen, the headcover, and noted that it was neatly folded. They were satisfied and went home. Mary went into the same tomb and saw two angels. How come Mary could see the angels and Peter and John could not see? Mary was not satisfied and so she could not just leave because she had not found who she was looking for.

Mary saw what John and Peter did not because of her pain, because of her heart, and because of the burning desire she had. One key thing about heaven is, heaven responds to burden. Isa.55:1Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.” (NIV). If you are not thirsty, you can come to the waters and you will not get drink. Peter and John went, they did not see Jesus because they had dry eyes. Mary went and saw Jesus because she had wet eyes, her eyes were bleeding as in weeping and the supernatural opened for her.

To fully understand this, you must know where Mary is coming from. At this point in Mary’s life, she had literally lost everything, everything! Jesus was all she had. Remember that she brought her life savings and broke it at the feet of Jesus. Mary broke the alabaster box of oil at the feet of Jesus and Jesus said she was anointing Him in advance for His burial. Jesus said that knowing that Mary was still going to come back and anoint Him properly. At that point, Jesus was all Mary had and she was not going to leave until she found Him.

Prayer [song]: All I have is You in heaven and earth, all I have is You. All I have is You in heaven and earth, all I have is You. Jesus, all I have is You. Jesus, all I have is You. Amen!
