Why & How?

Ps. 9:14 “I will praise you and rejoice because you saved me!” (NCV, emphasis added).

My life and your life should give God thanks because of who He is, because of what He has done, and because of what He has PROMISED. For believers, the biggest promise we should thank God for is the gift of eternal life. Jesus was speaking in John 11:25“I am the resurrection and the life.[a] Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (ESV) Have you put your trust in Christ, have you given your life to Him? Jesus is saying even though this life will come to an end, your life will continue. That is the biggest promise any believer has – the biggest! So, add that to your list of what God is yet to do because you are yet to die.

After you have written the human hair wig, the lashes, the bags, the shoes that you have prayed for, and God has not given you. Then write eternal life. What is the point? The point is, by the time you put all these things beside eternal life, they fade into insignificance. You begin to actually see that  if God can give His Son, there is actually nothing that He cannot give you. And this is why we should live a life of gratitude. So now that we understand the why, the next question is how? We will be looking at five things. You may know some of these five things, however, it is always good to articulate them and concretize them, making them a part of your existence. The first is, By Singing From My Heart. You live a life that gives thanks to God not just by singing, but by singing from your heart.

The question is does tone matter when you talk? Yes, it does; in fact, they say that communication is sixty percent tone (60%), twenty percent (20%) body language, and only twenty percent (20%) words. Another study states that the verbal component of communication is only three percent (3%). And ninety-seven percent (97%) is the nonverbal component which is tone and body language. My grandmother used to say that sorry has a male version and a female version. Someone can say, ‘sorry’, and you will feel that the person is compassionate. Yet another person can say, ‘sorry’, and all you perceive is sarcasm. It is because of the tone and because of body language.

Married couples can testify to the fact that there is a difference between ‘sorry oh’ and ‘oh sorry’. If there is a third party involved, the spouse can insist he or she said sorry multiple times, right? But has the person really said sorry? Not at all and it is because the tone and the body language said something  entirely different from what the words said. Similarly, when singing to God from my heart, the tone and the body language flow from the heart. So, it is not about just mouthing songs to God. You cannot claim to be praising God, but you are singing and chewing gum at the same time. Yes, you are singing but you are not singing from your heart.

Prayer (song): With my hands lifted up, and my mouth filled with praise, with a heart of thanksgiving, I will bless thee oh Lord. I will bless thee oh Lord… Amen!
