Compass

Isaiah 64:3-4 “When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quaked! For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!”

Martha made very boastful statements about what she believed, but did Martha really believe? John 11:39 Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.”Martha objected, protested, carried a placard, she resisted Jesus. Sometimes we say very high-sounding nonsense. We can even quote scriptures and appear to the spiritual. But do you really believe it? In one breath Martha said to Jesus, I have always, always known. What does that mean? She is saying to Jesus, I am not a baby in this matter, I understand spirituality and spiritual things. I know who You are.

The things Martha was saying were true, but the way of belief was blocked. How we know you believe, how heaven knows you believe is just one word – Expectation. What you believe determines what you expect. Forget all the grammar you are speaking, forget all the scriptures you are quoting, forget all the high-sounding nonsense you are saying. Okay, maybe not nonsense. How we know and how heaven knows you believe is your expectation. What is your expectation? When Jesus says to you roll away the stone, do you try to protest? Do you say, Jesus, if you had come earlier? What is your expectation? Expectation is the compass of belief. Expectation tells us the direction of your belief.

What hindered Martha was what she thinks she knows, but she really does not know. What hindered Martha here was what she thinks – she thinks about Jesus. Be careful of what you think – you think particularly about God. Do not believe what you think – you think. Check where your expectation is as your expectation determines what you actually think and believe about God. John 11:40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” What you think you know that you do not know about Jesus is a glory blocker. What you think you know that you really do not know can block your glory. I pray for you in the Name of Jesus that God will rid you of every form of arrogance.

It is arrogance to look at Jesus and tell Him you already know. The Word is telling you and you are telling Him you already know, really? What you think you know that you do not know is a major destiny blocker. God asked Ezekiel, can these bones live? Ezekiel was a wise man, he said, only You know. If you do a study on the calibre, the pedigree of Ezekiel, you will see he was a solid prophet. But when God, when The Way asks you a question, keep quiet!

Prayer: Father, help my heart, rid me of arrogance, in Jesus Name. Amen!
