In Character

1 Samuel 2:8 “He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honour. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order”

Do you feel like you are in the dust? God is going to lift you up. Do you feel like you are in the garbage dump? You are a candidate for lifting. God will set you among princes and sit you in seats of honour. Why? It is because the earth is the Lord’s. Psalm 113:7-9 “He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people! He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother.” God supervises your elevation. When you feel helpless, you are a candidate for lifting. Believe me, this is Good News for me too because I feel helpless, which means, I am a candidate for lifting.

It is in God’s character to see someone that is low and lift the person up. My story is a classic example, I was helpless… Did you not just say you are helpless? Yes, I am helpless for the level God is going to take me to. But I was helpless for the level He brought me from. Helpless and God helped me and pulled me up. God will help you and pull you up in the Mighty Name of Jesus. So, as we approach the end of the year 2023, and as we consider the New Year, there are a few things that are burning in my heart. Things that the Holy Spirit has been ministering to me and I am going to share nine of them with you over the next few days. Are you ready? Each one of these nine things is huge, so pay attention. You have to know these things so that you will walk in the fullness of what God has for you in 2023 and beyond.

The first one is Not All Addition Leads to Increase and Not All Subtraction Leads to Decrease. This is countercultural, counterintuitive if you will. God was saying to me, “how many ears do you have?” I said, “Two, Sir.” and He said, “Listen, not all addition leads to increase, and not all subtraction leads to decrease.” Revelation 3:7 “…What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.” (NIV). When God shuts a door, you will think it is a subtraction or even a loss. However, God is saying to you and I that it is not a loss and it is not going to lead to a decrease. When you take what is not yours, what belongs to God and you add it to yours, God is saying, that addition will not lead to an increase.

It is a truth that we have to understand in this season of lifting. As God lifts you, do not seek to add things that will not help you. Note also that not everything that is subtracted from you will lead to your downfall or a decrease.

Prayer: Father, as You lift me and open doors no one can shut in my life this season, help me not to add what You have not added to me, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
