Power Up!

Ephesians 6:^17-18 “God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” (MSG)

Why should we pray in tongues? The first reason is Praying In Tongues Brings Forth The Revelation Of God’s Plan For Your Life. The second reason is Praying in Tongues Edifies You. The third reason is Praying In Tongues Allows You To Pray When You Don’t Know What To Pray. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine said, “Our brain imaging research shows us that these subjects (children of God) are not in control of the usual language centres during this activity (praying in tongues) which is consistent with their description a lack of intentional control while speaking in tongues”.

When you speak in tongues your spirit prays. You are praying in the language of the spirit. Your mind does not understand it, but guess what? The Holy Spirit can give you an interpretation even though that is not our focus. 1 Corinthians 14:^14-15 “For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying. Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand.” When you do not know what to pray for, pray in tongues and the Holy Spirit will take charge.

The fourth reason we should pray in tongues is Praying In Tongues Is A Weapon of Warfare. Mark 16:^15-18 “And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved… These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages… They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” Praying in tongues is a language of the spirit and it is a warfare tool. So, if you feel your life is under siege, you feel you are under attack, get up and pray in tongues. And you will see God crush the enemies of your destiny in the Name of Jesus. Praying in tongues is so powerful.

Praying in tongues is a gift that is available to every believer, and it is a powerful spiritual weapon. Devote time daily to praying in tongues in a purposeful way, not in a mindless way. Since your understanding is unfruitful, there is a possibility to be speaking in tongues but allowing yourself to wander off. You have to engage your mind and be focused on your prayer points which is the Word of God. Thereby pulling down every stronghold in the Name of Jesus.
