Much More

John 14:12 “I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father!” (TPT, emphasis added)

We are taking a break from our previous study to receive God’s Word for us this Easter. Jesus is alive and well. Hallelujah! Happy Easter! So, over the next few days, we will be focusing on This Same Jesus! Our focus scripture for this season is Acts 1:11. The lead-up to the story is Jesus had resurrected, and His resurrection led to a lot of excitement. He revealed Himself to people, healed the sick, performed miraculous acts of catching multiple fish, and much more. The time between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension was forty days.

So, for forty days Jesus was on earth mingling with the disciples, showing up at their meetings, casting vision, and telling them what was going to happen. Then, Jesus told them He was going home, and they escorted him (if you will) to Mount Olives. And on Mount Olives, after the blessing and everything, Jesus was taken up into the clouds. Imagine how stunned the disciples were when Jesus was taken up into the clouds. They were just looking and looking until Jesus was out of sight. A lot of the time when God does something miraculous in our lives, we are stunned, fixated, and stuck. In fact, we want to pitch a tent at that place.

But God is saying to you, there is more in God, there is more in your destiny. There is more for you. Just like the Mount of Transfiguration, when the disciples saw the glorified Christ, they said let us pitch a tent here, one for you, one for Moses, one for Elijah, we will be outside, do not worry about us. Let’s just stay here (Matthew 17:4). Most times when God has done an amazing thing in your life, you just want to pitch a tent there. But God is saying to you, there is more. There is more in God, move forward. That is where our text kicks off.

Acts 1:11who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” (NKJV, emphasis added). This Same Jesus, not the Spirit of Jesus, not another Jesus, not another Saviour, but this same Jesus. The One who lived on earth, walked among men, healed the sick, and raised the dead. This same Jesus and that is so important and powerful. This same Jesus, not the dead one or buried one. The Jesus that was, and is, and is still to come. Jesus is alive! Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, because of the sacrifice of this same Jesus, I step into more in God in worship, obedience, miracles, signs, and wonders, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
