Settled!

Psalm 119:⁸⁹ “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [standing firm and unchangeable].” (AMP)

It is always an honour to dive into the Word of God, and today is no different. As believers, we are filled with mixed emotions when we look back at the year. Yes, we are grateful to God for all that He has done, and He is doing. But sometimes, we are perplexed at all that we thought God would do, and it appears that those things have not yet been done. So, we are legitimately confused, and that sometimes makes us very unsettled in our faith. And it makes us very unsure when we look at the days ahead. However, one thing we must never lose sight of is the fact that God is consistent in character, and that is where we can draw strength from.

If God was Holy yesterday, God is Holy today, and God will be Holy tomorrow. If God was faithful yesterday, God is faithful today, and God will be faithful tomorrow. We can hinge our faith and lives on The One who does not change. While everything around us is changing, we can anchor our faith in The One who does not change. As a people, we make it a priority to seek God’s face and put our ears to His chest, if you will. We love to know what He is saying about the year before us. And God has always been gracious to us and spoken concerning each year.

While there are a couple of things that are directional and we are to watch out for, we often ask that He would give us one word that summarize the outlook for the year. One word that we can put before us and run with for the year. In previous years, God has given us different Words, and the beauty of God’s Word is that it is cumulative. So, every one of those prophetic words – Establishment, Unparalleled Favour, Bloom, Victory, Freedom, Rejoice, New-Streams, Create are still in effect even now. However, when we went before the Lord asking the same questions as 2019 was winding down, God said, “Don’t look at the year, look at the decade.”

He gave us the Word for 2020, Light, but He said, “Focus on the decade. You are entering into the decade of destiny.” We announced it and embraced it without even knowing what that meant in its fullness. Then the year 2020 hit, and destiny altering things began to happen. COVID scattered the plans of the entire world. People and institutions were turned on their heads, literally. We are still in the decade of destiny; we are winding down the seventh year and about to enter the eighth year of the decade of destiny. So, for the next few days, we will be focusing on God’s Word to us, Enlargement, because enlargement continues.

Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, I decree that Your Word stands firm, established, settled, and unchangeable in my life. Amen!
