Pointers

Ps.32:“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

In the path of life, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, there are certain pointers to pre-determine decisions when we get to crossroads.

#1. When we are following Jesus, we do not make U-turns. Heb.10:39 But we are not those who turn back and are lost. We are people who have faith and are saved” (NCV). As long as your journey is one in which you are following Jesus, when you get to a crossroad, you do not make U-turns.

#2. Matt.7:13-14Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (ESV). So, if you see something that is easy and wide, just know that it leads to destruction. In other words, God is saying, check what is trending usually God is in the other direction. Go on twitter what is trending? Go on Facebook what is trending? If the trend is heading one-way, God is usually going the other way.

Crossroads provides an opportunity to change direction or stay on track. When you are at the crossroad, you must know what to do and do it. Wisdom is required at the crossroad. Wisdom is different from knowledge. Knowledge is acquisition of information. The bridge that connects knowledge and wisdom is understanding; knowledge on one side of the bridge and wisdom on the other side. Understanding is comprehension of the information. You can have knowledge, which is the acquisition of information, and not comprehend what that information means.

The Ethiopian Eunuch was reading the Bible, he was getting knowledge. Phillip came along and asked him if he understood what he was reading. He said I do not understand it, meaning that he had knowledge, but he had no understanding. You can memorize the multiplication table but not many people understand the multiplication table. I was visiting with a family and the father had put up the multiplication table and asked his son to memorize it. The boy refused because he was more interested in understanding how it works. The boy was right, what is the point of memorizing the multiplication table you do not understand? Why is 5 x 4 = 20? You are an adult, so I assume you would understand it, but the average child does not. Understanding is key.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to be discerning and choose the path that leads to life always, in Jesus Name. Amen!
