Negative Influence
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for ‘bad company corrupts good character’. Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Cor.15:33-34
There is an old saying, ‘show me your friends and I will tell you who you are’. A number of us are deceived into thinking that birds of the same feather do not always flock together. ‘Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for bad company corrupts good character’. You cannot be wiser than God. The truth is you are in denial and it will take a little while but your own feathers to show eventually. Take note of this, when you are constantly with a group of friends, its either you change them or they will change you. If you are not working on changing them actively, then guess what, they are changing you. When I just got saved, I went to town with my new found love – Jesus – the Way, the Truth and the Life. My friends laughed me to scorn and gave me a three months ultimatum with my new love. After which they were certain I would come back to the boys. I had two choices, stay around them and look good to them or draw the line immediately. I chose the latter option and submerged myself deep in Christ the Solid Rock until I had the spiritual energy to change them. Sometimes, to run for your life might just be the wisdom that will save you. Years later, I ran into one of them in Church and he was worshiping God devotedly. Imagine if I had chosen to look good and as a result back-slidden. What if I had denied Jesus because of their influence? Know this without a shadow of doubt, whatever you abandon Jesus for will eventually abandon you for Jesus. Take time out to think of the negative influences in your life and what your response will be henceforth.
Prayer: Jesus, I choose you! You are my treasure and my priority. I receive the spiritual strength to stand strong for Christ, in Jesus Name.
