Blessedness of Mourning I

‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’ Matt.5:4 [NIV].

The first blessing in mourning/grieving is comfort, the sweet comfort of the Holy Spirit. Maybe you are grieving because you are currently experiencing a season of lack. Or maybe you are grieving because there is a promise you are trusting God for and it is so excruciating waiting for it. Whatever reason you may be grieving for, comfort is coming your way by the ministry of the Holy Spirit and of believers.

We are blessed when we grieve because grieving breaks us. Nothing breaks us like grieving. And until you are broken, God cannot trust you. God is taking some of us through some certain tests, don’t worry relax; you are going to come out on top. And at the end, God will trust you with much more. As God provides the opportunity I often share some amazing things that God had taken me through. At the time it was so painful but coming out of it was so rewarding. And when people say I covert your anointing, I laugh, you must covert the tests too because they go together. ‘It is with the comfort that God has comforted us that we are able to comfort others’. Be careful what you covert really because sufficient for one life is the trouble thereof. You have your own battles to face, submit to God and your own anointing will follow you.

The third reason why we are blessed at grieving is because grieving puts us in touch with ourselves. Some of us are so out of touch with ourselves, we are not even aware of who we are. One of the fruits of grieving is you can perceive yourself. And until we know who we are we really cannot deploy our uniqueness to the world.

Fourthly, grieving births rejoicing. You really wouldn’t know the taste of real joy if you don’t know the taste of real pain. You won’t really know the sweetness of success, if you don’t know the challenges of apparent failure. Promotion will mean nothing to you if you don’t know what it is to be in one position while everyone around you is being promoted. But when God turns again your captivity and you are dancing like a mad person people will wonder why.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the assurance of comfort amidst grief. I declare that I will have beauty for ashes in my life, in Jesus Name.
