Don’t
Luke 12:18-19 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ (NIV)
I pray that God will bless you in such a way that you will understand this man’s problem. Many people don’t understand this man’s problem. But I pray that God will bless you in such a way that you will not judge this man easily. It is very easy to fall into this trap, very easy. If you don’t know how easy it is, you have not seen real money. And I pray that you will see good money, that you will understand the man’s problem, but you will not fall into this same problem. “And I’ll say to myself… Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ I think that is what really upset God. Don’t settle! It is easy for us to look at this man’s story and say when I get there, I will not settle. But I want you to check where you are right now. Have you settled?
Are you still dreaming? Are you stretching your mind? Are you trusting God for more territories? Are you trusting God for more things? Or are you trying to consolidate? A man said to me, “Pastor, I can’t complain. God has been good”. And I thank God for him. However, the question is, are you settling already? Don’t settle! Don’t settle! Don’t settle! Can you take what I am about to say? Are you ready for it? For the people that God loves, instead of Him to take their lives, He will take their farm. Instead of Him calling them home early, He will make them lose what they have put their confidence in. And typically, when people lose what they put their confidence in, then they remember to seek God. King Nebuchadnezzar had to eat grass before he lifted his eyes and declared, “There is a God in heaven.” I said to God, I don’t need to eat grass, Lord, I already know that there is a God in heaven.
The mistake this man made was that he was building a bigger barn when he should have been building a bigger farm. I pray you get it in Jesus Name. Don’t just build a bigger barn, build a bigger farm. Guess what? Building bigger farms is a lot of work, a lot more work than building bigger barns. But you are adding more value to people, employing more people, creating more value from the earth, cultivating the earth, and being more useful to God. You need to realize that God does not want you to settle. It is God who brought the increase. It is God who made this land fruitful. So, God doesn’t have a problem with blessing you or making you fruitful.
But God does not want you to settle. Don’t settle! That is why God said in Luke 12:21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” So, there is nothing wrong with having things for yourself, but you must be rich towards God.
Prayer: Father, help me see where I have settled and make amends, in Jesus Name. Amen!
