In Step

Galatians 5:25 “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”

You have to keep in step with the Holy Spirit for you to be in the right timing. Let Him determine and set the pace. On my missionary trips to Costa Rica, I had to eat their food, sit with the people, learn their culture, and learn some Spanish. They taught me their dance called the merengue. Now, one of the key things I learned in dancing the merengue is that you have to keep in pace (in step) with the person that you are dancing with. Secondly, when you are dancing with

someone, you cannot break rank with the person who is leading, mostly the man, but in my case, it was a lady leading, because I was a learner. You need to be in step with the person leading. Similarly, that is how the Holy Spirit wants you and I to be in step with Him.

How do you engage and keep in step with the Holy Spirit? It is by surrendering to His timetable, by surrendering to His pace. You cannot be in step with someone when you want to dance your own dance steps or do your own moves. No, you have to be in step, keep in pace. The people who are exceptional are usually in sync with God, at pace with God. And you cannot be in sync with God if you don’t surrender. Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:29). You have to yoke with Christ. Pastor Rick Warren said, “Be Humble or You Stumble.” You can’t be in step if you don’t surrender, if you are not humble.

In 2017, the Holy Spirit kept saying to me repeatedly, “You are an Apostle.” It was like I was hearing a different rhythm in the spirit. If you know me well, you will know that I really don’t like titles. Whether people call me an evangelist or not, it really doesn’t matter to me. But the Lord said, “You are an Apostle!” I was like, okay fine, what do You want me to do? In 2019, He said, “Move to Dallas, start a church”. So, we did the paperwork, and in January 2020, we moved to Dallas. Then from Dallas, we are in Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Panama. It is all about being in sync with Him. If we didn’t take that step, those doors would not have opened. That is how it works. Sometimes, you have to play the note, and at other times you have to be at rest. Don’t try to play the note when you should be at rest. And don’t be at rest when you should be playing the note.

Psalm 31:14-15But I am trusting you, O Lord. I said, “You alone are my God; my times are in your hands…” (LB). Your time is in God’s hands. Are you trusting in Him? Do you have a relationship with God? Are you walking in step with Him? You need to be in sync with Him.

Prayer: Father, I surrender to You, put me in step and in sync with You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
