Troubles
“Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke Him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Mark.4:38-39.
A lot of us are looking at our life’s calendar and saying, by now I should have done xyz and abc. You have to understand that Jesus is reliable. What He said He will do, He will do. If He needs to raise the dead, the dead will rise. Jesus does not love you less if He does not show up based on your timing. Jesus did not love Lazarus any less but Jesus said, “this is to the glory of God”. What are you going through that you think time has passed? I am here to tell you, as He has said to me, it is to the glory of God. At the end of the day, everybody will rejoice with you, in the Name of Jesus.
The second reason why we doubt the reliability of Jesus is our troubles. Some things happen that force us to question the very essence of the life that we have. Some things happen that cause us to consider death as a better option. The devil is a liar. God is saying, in spite of your troubles, Jesus is reliable. Remember Job? Job had it good – he had everything. Then all of a sudden, God was boasting about Job. I’m tempted to say, may God not boast about you. But it is also a good thing for God to boast about you. So, may God boast about you! But when God boasts about you, it’s trouble that is coming. God said to the devil, “have you considered my servant Job?” And the devil said, “does Job fear God for nothing?” God said, “my own Job”? Satan said, try him and see if he will not curse you to your face. And God said, attack him. And in one day, Job saw hell; lost everything, even his children. And satan came and God said have you seen? Has he denied me? Satan said he hasn’t denied you. God said I told you I trust him. And satan said you’ve protected his health, let me touch it, then you’ll see. It just shows that satan cannot touch you if God does not permit it. God may not be the one afflicting you but if He allowed it, then He is going to take the glory. So satan afflicted Job’s body. The Bible said, Job took pottery and was scarping his wounds. “His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” Job2:9. In other words, you are useless to society, you are useless to me, you can’t even perform, curse God and die. You know why? So she can marry someone else and move on with her life. May you not marry a woman [spouse] like that. If you have married a woman like that, God will convert her for your sake. Our troubles make us doubt the reliability of Jesus. Yet even with Job, God proved [not that He needs to prove anything to us] that He is utterly reliable.
Prayer: Father, Your promise is that You will be with me till the end of time and there are no conditions to Your Word. I embrace Your reliability, in Jesus Name.
