Understanding Stewardship

“God is ready to overwhelm you with more blessings than you could ever imagine so that you’ll always be taken care of in every way and you’ll have more than enough to share” 2Cor.9:8 [VOICE].

I want you to just stop and just receive it. God is ready to overwhelm you! He is ready to overwhelm us with more blessings than we could ever imagine for two reasons. The first reason is so that He will take care of your every need. Yes, God cares about your every need and He wants you to be taken care of in every way. But the problem with many of us is that after God has supplied all our needs, we begin to supply all our wants. I want more shoes, more cars, more houses, more clothes, just because we see that there is still more coming. But that is not what God has in mind. He is taking care of you in every way so that you will have more than enough to share [the second reason]. The purpose of your abundance is generosity! That is what the Bible says. God does not promise to bless us so we can be richer than we can ever imagine, He promises to bless us so we can be more generous than we can ever imagine. God is blessing you so that you can take care of yourself, your family, and meet your needs. But beyond that He is blessing you so that you will have much more than enough to share.

In other words, God is using you and I as channels of distribution. I need you to get this. Some of us have bitten the bait of the enemy that we just need to acquire more and more. It is a lie. Think about it, how much money does a man really need? Not a lot – shelter, mobility, clothing, feeding, not a lot. Then what happens to all the excess? God will satisfy us all with long life in Jesus Name. But what if an angel appears to you and says, “you have twenty-four hours to live!” Are you going to start thinking about that shoe that gave you sleepless nights because you could not buy it? Would that be important? Would the promotion that you are about to abuse your boss over because you did not get it matter? Would you be asking for a promotion, would that be important? Will the house that you are stealing money to buy be important? How important will these material possessions be to you then? When you put eternity in view, money becomes nothing! And that is exactly how God wants you and I to relate with possessions. Do not let possessions own you. God wants us to understand stewardship. Your car does not own you. The number of houses you have or do not have does not define you. It does not and it should not! Money and possession loose their value in light of eternity.

Prayer: Lord, let nothing own me but You my Father, in Jesus Name.
