Sixth Words
When Jesus had tasted it, He said, “It is finished!” John19:30a
‘It is finished’, Jesus sixth words on the cross are words of triumph and victory. Jesus stood crucified on the cross and shouted ‘it is finished’. Dictionary.com defines the word finished as ‘(of an action, activity, or piece of work) Having been completed or ended. (of a person) Having completed or ended an action or activity’. The word finished also suggests over, broken-down. What then was Jesus talking about when He said ‘It is finished’? Jesus was and is proclaiming that the work of salvation is accomplished – finished. Pay no attention to people who deceitfully ask you for tokens in exchange for salvation. Jesus completed the work on the cross. The work of redemption is completed by the Blood of the Lamb poured out on the cross. The fulfillment of the law is accomplished. In His sacrifice on the cross lies all that was needed to fully satisfy the wrath of God. Jesus came to put an end to the separation between man and God. When He shouted ‘it is finished’, every wall of separation between man and God was broken-down. Jesus was and is declaring that the work of satan has legally come to an end. The purpose Jesus was manifested was so that He might destroy the work of satan. Phil.2:8-11, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, every work of satan in your life is hereby destroyed. Every evil cycle the enemy has caused you to walk in, is broken today in the Jesus Name. Evil circles in your family, in your finances, in your marriage or in your relationships and at your job; Jesus’ finished work on the cross brings them all to an end today. The Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are saved. Jesus shouted that the reproach in our lives is finished. So you and I can walk boldly without condemnation. [Rom.5:18, Rom.8:1].
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the finished work on the cross. I am redeemed of the Lord; redeemed from the law, sin, the devices of the enemy, reproach, destruction in Jesus Name.
