Provoking Favour

Rom.9:15-16 For God said to Moses, “I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it” [emphasis added].

Excellence glorifies God and inspires people. In your office, ensure that you are the most skillful because that is your greatest witness as a Christian. Let people say concerning you, “He or she is the most skillful person here.” In business, let your customers say, that organization is the most skillful organization we have encountered. Get an education. It is reckless to think you can replace getting an education with being favoured. People who think that way, draw their inspiration from this statement, “one day of favour is worth more than a hundred days of labor”.

While that is true, do not wait for that One day until you are ninety. Meanwhile, God has shown you how you can attract favour. Get educated and stop procrastinating. If prayer were all that is needed, Nigerian Christians would be the wealthiest people on earth. They receive everything; they walk by an expensive car and receive it in Jesus Name. You are receiving it but someone else is driving it. Can’t you see something is wrong with that picture? Of course I believe in the power of the supernatural to receive these things, but guess what? They are yours already, the reason you do not have it is because you are not translating it from the spiritual to the physical. How can you translate it? Speed, Strength, Wisdom, Skill, and Education!

With favour, there is a part that God has put in our control and there is a part that only God can control. The part that only God can control is the most important because: “The horses prepare for battle but safety is of the Lord”, “Except the Lord watches the city, the watch man watches in vain”. “…I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” So it is God who decides to show mercy; we can neither choose it nor work for it. God can decide to lift you up and He will, in Jesus Name, but we cannot control it. We cannot control it, earn it, or work for it. I have learnt that God is so magnanimous; He made provision for us to Provoke It. You can provoke God’s favour and make heaven decide on your behalf, by petitioning and pleasing God.

Prayer: Lord, fill me with the spirit of excellence and empower me to do the things that are fully pleasing to You, especially in the place of prayer, in Jesus Name.
