The Advantage!
Eph.3:11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord 12 Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence” [emphasis added]
The Privilege of Prayer: One of the greatest privileges that Jesus gave us is prayer. The ability to show up before God and pray is one of the greatest privileges of being a Christian. It is beautiful to know that because of Christ, we can come boldly and confidently into God’s Presence. Jn.14:13 “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” [emphasis added]. Jesus assures us twice that if we ask for anything, He will do it!
The privilege of prayer is that you and I can come before God and ask; that we can bring our hearts and burdens and lay them at His feet. Sadly, many times we carry the things we have no business carrying. We are worrying about the things we have no business worrying about. As a church we have faced a lot of challenges; we have gone through seasons where if God did not show up for us, it would mean big trouble. I like being in such situations, where it is either God comes through or nothing else can happen. And God always comes through to the praise and glory of His Name. Through it all, I did not lose sleep for one day. You will never catch me lost in thought. The truth is, it is God’s work. I have done my part and I am going to let God do His part.
My point is this, if there is something you can do about that situation, then do it. But after you have done all you can, go to sleep and leave the rest to God. My wife can attest to the fact that there has not been a single day that I was not able to sleep. It never happens because “He gives His beloved sleep”. Why are you awake, thinking and giving yourself a headache? Are you God? The last time I checked, His position is not vacant. The last time I checked, he is still God! The only reason why the problem is magnified is because you are owning it and carrying it. Today you will learn how to take it to Him and drop it at His feet.
Thought: Whose problem is it?
Prayer [song]: What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer. Oh what peace we often forfeit. Oh what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer. Amen!
