Take Action II
Ex.17: 11 “It happened that whenever Moses raised his hand, the battle went well for Israel; but whenever he lowered his hand to rest, Amalek began to win”.” [Voice, with emphasis].
Moses took action. The enemy has spoken negativity concerning you and you are saying perhaps they do not mean it? Do yourself a favour and respond. There are two types of responses demonstrated in Exodus 17:8-13 [please read] that I want us to learn from: a. the tactical response and b. the strategic response. Yesterday I shared an experience with you of a deliverance session initiated by God and how I became ill afterwards. Going to the hospital was a tactical response and setting up my watch in the place of prayer, was a strategic move. You have to respond tactically and strategically.
Christians sometimes think that the way to deal with every issue is through prayer. There are some tactical maneuvers you have to make. Sometimes, you have to go into the trenches and fight and some other times you have to stand on the watchtower. Another group of Christians only want to respond tactically and ignore the strategic to their own peril. Why? You have to mount your watch in the spiritual and fight. There is an interesting connection between the tactical and the strategic response. You cannot choose one and leave the other.
Ex.17:9 “Moses called for a young leader named Joshua. Moses (to Joshua): Select some of our best men, and go fight against the soldiers of Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand at the crest of that hill overlooking the battlefield with God’s staff in my hand” [Voice, with emphasis]. Joshua did the tactical response and Moses did the strategic response. What are you faced with? Sit before God and determine what the tactical response should be as well as what the strategic response should be. Then go ahead and execute both in the Name of Jesus.
Sometimes, Jesus would send his disciples ahead while He stayed back to pray. You have to get into the trenches and do the practical thing. Then if you need to get a haircut, get a haircut. If you need to put on your makeup before you go for that interview, then do it. Yes, you have prayed for five hours for the job [strategic] but you still need to brush your teeth [tactical]. The point is you need to engage both the tactical and strategic responses. Huge advantage!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, for every task, business, deliverable and every battle, help me identify the tactical and strategic response and empower me to enforce both, in Jesus Name. Amen!
